Bio

Middle school teacher by day, singer-songwriter and cover artist by night, Chris Bryant approaches varied genres and subject matter with soulful honesty. It doesn’t matter if he’s singing about love, social responsibility, or having a party – when Chris sings, people listen. And when they listen, they believe what he’s saying.

Despite only performing as a solo act since January 2009, Chris has extensive performing and recording experience. As a member of the nationally renowned Pitchforks of Duke University between 2004-2008, he performed in nearly 200 shows for audiences up and down the East coast.  Since 2008, he’s played numerous shows in various venues in North Carolina, Washington DC, Illinois, and Ohio.

Growing up, he wasn’t allowed to listen to popular music on the radio, so up until about 6th grade he had a steady diet of gospel, oldies, funk, soul, smooth jazz, classical, and whatever late 80’s-mid 90’s R&B his parents deemed appropriate. He considers Ben Harper, Ray Lamontagne, and Amos Lee to be some of his most inspirational contemporary performers, but he learns things everyday from people all around him.

Instrumentation
Chris Bryant: Vocals, guitar, harmonica, keyboard

Chris performs as:
- a solo act
- a duo w/ hand percussionist (cajon, djembe, hi hat, etc)
- a full band (lead guitar, bass, drum, keys, etc).

Just caught the end of your show on NPR this afternoon. I really enjoyed listening to your music. I really liked “Already Lost.” I am hoping to get certified to teach, my background is in biology. Gosh you have so much presence and positive energy in your music! The middle school kids are lucky to have you , and I hope the new charter school goes well for you. Thank you for sharing your music, you really reach people, best wishes to you. I hope to come out sometime and hear you in Durham. Take care!

Hey Chris

Just wanted to drop you a note and tell you how nice it was to meet you at the six string cafe on Tuesday. My wife and I loved your voice, and your music. From seeing your bio, it looks like we have some things in common. I also was not allowed to listen to pop music until later in life!

Anyway, good to see you and we look forward to following your career. Hope to run into you “on the road”.

Take care,

John Cloer
